Making an Appointment
To make an appointment, no referral is necessary unless you intend to claim a Medicare rebate. Please call reception to make a booking or to request an information brochure about psychology at Tyack Health.
If you would like to be placed on our waiting list for an earlier appointment or for specific appointment times please request this at reception.
Contact reception for further information.
Most private health funds refund part of the cost of the consultation under ‘extras’ cover.
Medicare rebates are available if your doctor has referred you through the Medicare scheme.
There is no Medicare or private health fund rebates with our psychology interns.
If your appointments are to be funded by a third party such as Work Cover, you will need to cover the cost of your appointments until approval of funding has been secured. You may then be able to apply for reimbursement of these costs from the third party in due course.
Your doctor or pediatrician may determine that your child meets certain criteria for referral through the Medicare scheme. It is possible to claim Medicare rebates for individual and group psychology sessions with a specific referral.
Insurance and WorkCover
If your appointments are to be funded by a third party such as WorkCover Queensland or an insurance company, you will need to cover the cost of your appointments until approval of funding has been secured.
If you are unable to keep your appointment, we appreciate early notification so that no-one is inconvenienced.
If an appointment is cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled time, a $50 fee may be charged. Appointments cancelled within 4 hours or not attended may attract the full appointment fee.
Creating Confidence for Life
A referral is not required to attend the Creating Confidence for Lifes program unless you intend to claim rebates from Medicare. Groups are limited to a maximum of 10 participants, therefore bookings are essential.
Before beginning the group treatment, an initial individual appointment with the group facilitator or another psychologist at our centre is usually conducted to determine the best approach for your child. We also suggest booking an individual appointment following the group to discuss your child's progress and any recommendations for the future.
If you are interested in the program for your child, it can be run in groups or pairs. Please contact reception to make a booking or for any enquiries. Alternatively, you can book an individual appointment with one of our psychologists to discuss and assess their suitability for the program.
