Groups

Creating Confidence for Life is a group program for preventing and reducing childhood anxiety.

Children can often feel overwhelmed and become anxious about life situations including school, social and family life.

The Creating Confidence for Life program is an evidence-based group program which assists children aged 8 to 16 years to develop skills to manage and cope with feelings and situations.

The cognitive-behavioural program involves an initial individual assessment with one of our psychologists, a parent information session, 10 weekly group sessions (1.5 hour session each week) after school, a workbook to keep and an individual feedback appointment following the completion of the program.

Creating Confidence for Life teaches skills to cope with anxiety more effectively and build emotional resilience, problem-solving abilities and self-confidence and has been acknowledged by the World Health Organisation as an effective program for the prevention and treatment of anxiety and mental health issues.

For more information please contact reception or download a brochure.

Making a Booking

The Creating Confidence for Life program is limited to 10 participants, therefore bookings are essential.

Sessions run for 10 weeks and attendance at all 10 sessions is an imperative part in ensuring the effectiveness of the program and optimal benefit for your child.

Before beginning the group program, an initial appointment with one of our psychologists is required to determine the best treatment for your child. This session is included in the total cost of the program and may attract Medicare or private health rebates if you qualify.

Creating Confidence for Life may be helpful for:

  • Separation anxiety
  • Down mood
  • Social difficulties
  • Physical stress symptoms
  • Nervousness and phobias
  • Low self-esteem
  • Bullying

If you would like to claim a Medicare rebate for our Creating Confidence for Life group programs, you will require a Medicare referral (2710) from your doctor for group treatment.  We recommend booking a long appointment with your doctor to discuss your child's eligibility for rebates through the Medicare scheme.

Private health funds may also offer a rebate for the program.

If you are interested in your child attending one of our groups, please contact reception to book an individual appointment with one of our psychologists.
