Sweden’s capital city has launched an emergency response team solely for people in severe mental health or behavioural distress. Typically situations of this nature are handled by the police. Treating mental health problems in the same way as physical health problems helps to reduce stigmatisation of psychiatric illness which encourages people suffering to reach out and get help.
