Pregnancy is an exciting journey for many women and accessing various health services can enhance pre and post-natal outcomes. Chiropractic care ranks third in popularity after massage and yoga. It offers drug-free pain relief making it a preferred choice for many expecting mothers.

Before conception, a consultation with your GP for blood tests, reviewing vaccination status and discussing family history is crucial. During the first 20 weeks, routine ultrasounds and midwife appointments are standard. Some women may experience discomfort in the pelvic girdle, lower back and hips. This may prompt visits to a chiropractor for pain relief through tailored low-force techniques. Between 28 to 36 weeks, pregnancy related discomfort may increase. Chiropractic care helps manage pain through soft tissue techniques, adjustments or mobilisations and exercise recommendations. In the final weeks leading to birth, weekly chiropractic visits may provide short-term relief as your body undergoes rapid growth and postural changes.

Exercise during pregnancy is recommended as it helps prepare the body for giving birth and helps alleviate common discomforts such as backaches and pelvic pain. Incorporating weight and cardiovascular training under medical supervision can help maintain strength and fitness. Regular exercise not only benefits physical health but also mental well-being, reducing the risk of various complications. Postpartum, gradual return to exercise is recommended, prioritizing low-impact activities due to potential bone density loss, particularly for breastfeeding mothers. Exercise is recommended throughout pregnancy however check with your health practitioner to ensure it's safe before starting any new regimen
