The Bowen Story

Mr Tom Bowen
18/04/1916 - 25/10/1982

Mr Bowen lived his formative years and adult life in Geelong Victoria.  He worked for the Harbour Trust and then for Geelong Cement Works.  During these years he showed an interest in healing and volunteered his help to the local football clubs.  Though the source of his knowledge is not clear, he developed a unique and potently effective system of cross fibre movements which we know today as Bowen Therapy.

In 1960/61 he opened his own practice which rapidly grew to the treatment of 300 patients per week.  He held weekly clinics for the disabled and contributed many voluntary hours to the inmates of Geelong Prison and to members of the local Police Force.

Due to the efforts of several official and unofficial students of Mr Bowen, the continuum of his technique has been preserved and is now being taught extensively throughout the world.
